F A Q
Are the appointments only online?
Yes, most appointments are online. This reduces the time and hassle associated with getting to your appointment. There is no need to travel, sit in traffic or look for parking. It works well if you live remotely or when you are away. It also allows for evening appointments from the convenience of your home once you have finished work, studies or training for the day.
Your appointment will be just like a face-to-face session but over video conferencing.
How long are the appointments?
Psychology sessions are 60 minutes.
Athlete wellbeing sessions: first session- 60 minutes, Follow up sessions- 30 minutes.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No, you don’t need a referral to make an appointment to see me.
However, in some circumstances, your GP may complete a Mental Health Care Plan for you, in this case, you will be able to receive a Medicare rebate of $96.65 for ten sessions per calendar year. Be mindful that Medicare rebates are only applicable to some Mental Health presentations and treatments. Discuss with your GP if a Mental Health Care Plan would be appropriate for you.
If you have Private Health Insurance, you may be able to receive a rebate for psychology sessions without the need of a Mental Health Care Plan. Check with your private insurer to see if you have cover for psychology. You cannot claim private health insurance on Medicare rebated sessions.
If you are a para athlete, and have an NDIS plan, you may be able to use some of your funding for psychology. Only self-managed or Plan Managed participants can use my psychology services under NDIS.
Do you work with children?
Yes, I work with children. However, I prefer to work and support the parents of young children (under 13) instead. Young children benefit from receiving support from their parents. I am happy to help you with guidance.
In some circumstances, it may be appropriate to work with young children individually. Send me a message to discuss circumstances so we can make a decision on what will be the best for your child.
What are your working hours?
I work during business hours (9-5) but I also try to accommodate for sessions outside these hours if it is more convenient. Most clients prefer appointments after work/school. Therefore, most appointments are in the afternoons and evenings. If you are overseas, send me a message with your location/local time and I will try to accommodate.
How do I pay for sessions?
After our session, you will receive an invoice via email with details for a bank deposit. You can also pay with a credit card.
Once paid, I will send you a receipt. You can use this receipt to claim your private insurance.
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan, I will be able to process the Medicare rebate for you once invoice has been paid. Money will go into the account that you have registered with Medicare.
